Minnesotan #04: Basic Conversations

Unterhaltungen in Minnesota sind einfach: Auf eine Aussage oder eine Frage folgt eine Antwort. Inhaltlich geht es meist ums Wetter ("it could be worse"), ums Auto (wieso eigentlich?), ums Essen (Hotdishes!) und ums Angeln (kein Wunder bei den vielen Seen).

Ein typischer Dialog könnte etwa so aussehen:
- "What d'ya think of this weather?"
- "Boy, it's something."
- "I've never seen anything like it."
- "You got that right."

    Very true, but only outside of the Cities and mostly to the north.

    The Minnesotans in the loneliness of the North seem to be a bit different from the others, don't they?

    It is also because you find more communities of Scandinavian origins. It seems to me that the southern part of the state is a bit more German.

    I haven't been to New Ulm in years, but it is noted for being very "German". There is a German restaurant there that I have been wanting to go to.
