Minnesotan #05: Dining Out in Minnesota

When it comes time to tip, (...) you should discuss the amount with the others at the table. It's expected. Simply dropping the tip on table without mentioning the total or reviewing how you arrived at it is bad manners in Minnesota.

  1. Well... I did just have ice in my rosé last night, but in general I don't ice it. I do find that there is some discussion on tips, but usually it is mostly to make sure enough of a tip has been left and who is covering it. Out state I find that they expect less of a tip. We always tip about 20%.

  2. Thanks for your hint about the amount of the tip. Good to know the local customs!
