Abstrakte Kunst und rätselhafte Briefmarken

Sam Francis: Augustus Image and Word (1987), 170 x 210 cm - oder: Die Kunst der Farbkleckse? In der Tat, sehr abstrakte Kunst...

... weniger abstrakt, aber dennoch auf den ersten Blick auch nur schwer verständlich die Briefmarke aus Polen: Was könnte damit gemeint sein? Antwort: Koziorożec, das Tierkreiszeichen des Steinbocks - und diese Briefmarke aus dem Jahr 1996(!) ist die letzte der Serie, die noch im Umlauf ist.

    I am not a huge fan of abstract art, but I do find some of it pleasing.

    I like that stamp series!

    Yes, abstract art can be very challenging and often I do not know what the artist's intention was when he created the work. Though from time to time I find an abstract artwork which fascinates me - and then I'm thinking and thinking why exactly that work touches me so much. In most cases I do not find the answer...
