Seenelkäik

Wenn ein korrupter Politiker erzählt, er habe sich beim Pilzesammeln in den Weiten und Tiefen der estnischen Wälder verirrt und erst nach drei Tagen wieder herausgefunden, so mag das stimmen. Wenn er dann aber weitererzählt, welch schreckliche Erlebnisse ihm widerfahren sind, daß er jetzt die Sorgen und Nöte der kleinen Leute viel besser versteht und zum Schluß an die Solidarität aller appelliert, dann sollte man ihm besser nicht glauben. Oder erst gar nicht zuhören.

Wer von uns ist jetzt blöd?

Schade, daß Seenelkäik nicht im offiziellen Wettbewerb von goEast 13 lief und somit nicht den Hauptpreis des Filmfestivals gewinnen kann - verdient hätte er ihn allemal!

    I am going to try to rephrase the above:

    A corrupt politician was our searching for mushrooms and something bad happened to him. When he returned three days later his experience leads him to side with needs of the common people. But some will not listen to his story.

    I think that is the gist, but I feel I am missing some important point.

    It sounds like you really enjoyed it though!

    I try to provide a better translation than Google:

    If a corrupt politician tells you that he has got lost in the forest for three days while mushrooming, then this story might be true. But if he continues to narrate how much he suffered from fear, if he says that now he knows the real sorrows and needs of the working poor and if he appeals to the solidarity of society, then you should not believe him. Or better: Do not even listen to him.

    An excellently made movie from Estonia!
