Wolken ziehen vorüber

Wolken ziehen vorüber: So finnisch, so melancholisch, so traurig, daß die Tränen beim letzten Tango fließen durften. Aber für Kaurismäkis tragische Verlierer des Lebens gibt es am Ende immer ein Fünkchen Hoffnung - und hier ist der Funke gar so groß, daß daraus ein richtiges Feuer werden könnte. Kauas pilvet karkaavat, niin minäkin.

    The Finnish quote at the end of the post is from the last song of the movie, meaning: "The clouds are drifting far away, and so am I..."

    Thank you very much for enhancing my knowledge of English language, indeed I haven't known "on a roll" before...

    And, of course, thank you for that 8 minutes video from Finland. Well, once one said that without the tango the Finns would have been already extinct for a long time - or: A silent Finn man not talking to a silent Finn woman hereby expressing his deepest feelings, that's the real purpose of the Finnish Tango... I wasn't able to believe it until I saw Finns going (not dancing) tango for the first time!
