Eigentlich sollte es nach Kaffee und Kuchen beim Sommerfest im Beethovenpark nur ein kurzer Ausflug werden - doch in der Käsmühle konnte ich dem Handkäs mit gehackten Walnüssen nicht widerstehen...

  1. One the left, second from top, what are those pillars? What does the red circle on the sign with the bike mean? I had never heard of Hand Cheese before.

  2. These pillars have been a mystery for me, too. At first, I thought they would be some pieces of a public chess set in the forest park. I was so curious that I got a closer look at them: Now I'm sure that they are the remains of a no longer used fountain (look at the 3rd pic on 2nd row).

The red circle sign means "road closed for all vehicles", but with an exception for bicycles (according to the additional sign with the bike and the word "free" which is hard to read on the image). I guess German traffic signs are very different from yours because there are almost no written words here: http://is.gd/iV62bd

Besides Apple Wine, Hand Cheese is maybe the best-known specialty from Frankfurt! Even if I know some of your taste preferences, it is really hard for me to say whether you would like it...

  3. Goodness, the signs really are quite different. You would never find different lanes of the highway having different speeds here.
