Galveston in Texas liegt auf der gleichnamigen, aus einer Sandbank entstandenen Insel am Golf von Mexiko und wurde vor drei Jahren von einem furchtbaren Hurrikan heimgesucht. Alles Gute, good luck!
The sad thing is that Galveston used to be seen as very beautiful, but now the shoreline is dotted with oil refineries. I hope there are still places that look like this and are beautiful, but want we saw when we drove through in 2009 was very ugly. I did happen to see a show on TV the other day that filmed at a Galveston beach and it did look nice, I am just not sure how far you would have to drive along the coast to find a beach like that.
The writer of the postcard has sound sad about the situation of her town, she writes that the city is now "trying to recover". All our best wishes for the people there!
Thanks for your YouTube link, I like this video (and the song). It is so sad what became of Galveston, not only by that terrible hurricane, but also by companies which built oil refineries everywhere along the coast. So sad.
